There is currently an approximately 12 month waiting list for our classes. If you'd like your child added to the waiting list, please email through their name, date of birth and a contact number for the parent to [email protected]. If a place is available, we normally advise having the student and their parent watch a session first to ensure they know what Taekwondo is and what the sessions will involve - for example it's a contact sport as well as traditional martial art.
The first session is completely free to allow the child to see if they enjoy Taekwondo training and for the instructor to ensure that the child is ready/capable of learning.
All Taekwondo students in the UK must have insurance. We are members of United Kingdom Taekwondo Development Council, itself a member of the British Taekwondo Council which is recognised by Sport England as the governing body for Taekwondo in the UK. All students must pay an annual membership fee of £30. For the first month, students are welcome to train in jogging bottoms, T-shirt, etc - but after this point we advise they get a Taekwondo uniform. These are available from the instructor at a lower than retail price.
Classes
Our child and cadet aged students (6-13 year olds) take part in the full Kukkiwon Taekwondo curriculum, there is no dilution of standards for them...
Taekwondo gives a young student a structure to learn self-defence, promotes self-confidence and discipline. Respect is very important within all martial arts and students at Stevenage Taekwondo are expected to treat each other and their instructors with respect. Taekwondo provides a very positive influence on all children.
There are four classes in Stevenage for children as part of Stevenage Taekwondo Club, all held at Fairlands School, Pound Avenue, Stevenage, Herts, SG1 3JA.
Tuesday 19:00-20:00: White belts (beginners) to green belts
Tuesday 20:00-21:00: Blue-striped belts to black belts
Thursday 18:30-19:15: White belts (beginners) to green belts
Thursday 19:15-20:00: Blue-striped belts to black belts
The Tuesday classes are combined children and adults (so parents can train with their children if they're the same grade), the Thursday classes are children only.
Pricing
Since the start of 2017, all students pay monthly or over a longer period by Direct Debit (and are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee) rather than each week in cash. It is up to the account holder to change/cancel their plan before their next payment is due, if they wish to. No refunds will be given for uncompleted training.
